Capture AI IDE sessions so intent does not die in the chat.
SpecStory records and syncs AI coding sessions (notably from Cursor and similar IDEs) into artifacts a team can review. It is an intent/observability adjunct: the prompt trail becomes a document.

Editorial take
SpecStory exists because IDE agent sessions are private and evaporate. That is the ceiling Shopify wrote about with River. This product is a bandage on private sessions, not a public Slack agent. Useful. Not a factory by itself.
Strengths
- Persists IDE agent sessions as reviewable artifacts.
- Addresses a real observability hole in Cursor-like tools.
- Intent archaeology for later runs.
Limitations
- Closed. Another place session data lives.
- Does not replace a spec or a gate.
- IDE-ecosystem dependent.
