Assessment
Replit Agent fits greenfield applications built and deployed in Replit's hosted environment. Private monorepos or dependencies behind a VPN are a poor fit. The agent, runtime, and deployment all remain Replit services.
Strengths
- Agent, runtime, and deploy are one environment.
- Genuine isolation from the user’s laptop.
- Prompt-to-running-URL workflow.
Limitations
- Cloud-only, proprietary, Replit-shaped repos and billing.
- Weak fit for existing private monorepos with internal dependencies.
- Model routing is Replit’s, even when multiple models appear in a picker.
