n8n
Verified
Open workflow automation that now grows agent nodes.
n8n is an open-source workflow automation tool with a fair-code license. Teams wire SaaS nodes, webhooks, and — increasingly — agent and LLM nodes into the same canvas. It is an orchestrator people already run, not a new agent framework.

Editorial take
n8n is listed because factories start as “when the ticket moves, do this,” and n8n already does that. Fair-code is not MIT; read the license before you assume you can embed it. Agent nodes do not make n8n a coding harness.
Strengths
- Self-hostable automation with a huge node ecosystem.
- Good intent/orchestration glue for issue and chat triggers.
- You can see the graph. That matters in incidents.
Limitations
- Fair-code licensing is a constraint, not a slogan.
- Not a sandbox or a merge gate.
- LLM nodes can hide prompt rot in a pretty canvas.
