Google’s asynchronous coding agent that opens pull requests.
Jules is Google’s async coding agent: you assign a GitHub issue or task, it works in its own environment, and it comes back with a pull request. It is a cloud worker, not a local CLI. Gemini is the model.

Editorial take
Jules is Google’s Devin-shaped product: asynchronous, environment-backed, PR-out. It is not Gemini CLI and not Code Assist. Use it when the job is “go away and open a PR,” not when you need to watch every tool call. Locked models and a Google-hosted computer are the trade.
Strengths
- Async issue-to-PR loop on Google-hosted compute.
- Separate product from the IDE assistant, which is the correct split.
- GitHub integration is the documented path.
Limitations
- Cloud-only, Gemini-locked, closed source.
- You do not operate the sandbox.
- Availability and limits move with Google’s preview/GA labels; read the current docs.
