Editorial take
If the factory’s humans live in IntelliJ, Junie is the execution surface that will actually get used. It is not a headless worker and not a sandbox. JetBrains’ inspections are a real verification adjacent; do not confuse them with a merge gate you designed.
Strengths
- Uses the JetBrains project model, not a lowest-common-denominator LSP.
- Agent (Junie) is named separately from tab completion.
- Natural path for JVM/Kotlin/Java shops.
Limitations
- IDE-bound and proprietary.
- Unattended CI execution is not the product.
- Model and quota terms sit on JetBrains AI subscriptions; they move.
